Week in Bloom: Day 6

Clematis

A very easy plant to grow. Almost too easy. Keeping it under control takes a bit of work. Work I have not been doing. Next year this beauty will have a new home up next to the house on a trellis, instead growing on the lattice of the pool deck.

Can you see the hitchhiker on this one?

I love purple flowers! Do you have any balloon flowers? Your garden is spectacular, Sharon!

I've never heard of Balloon flowers Laura. Have you ever seen Moon flowers? If not, look them up. They bloom at night!

Jenn also commented earlier on how much I must work in my gardens, but the truth is, I do very little. When choosing plants (perennials for the most part) I tried to pick plants that would pretty much take care of themselves. All I do is weed and cut off dead flowers. I'll have to post a picture of my inspirations garden sometime.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a Rose garden? But who has time for that!

I don't know that roses are worth it. My grandparents had tons of roses, and I was never fond of them.

Besides the thorns, my grandparents could barely keep up with the bugs that ate them and turned them brown.

Also, I prefer plants with beautiful foilage beyond the flowers-which the roses did'nt have.

To me Roses are at their most beautiful when you see hoards of them growing along a fence by the ocean, or someones front yard. Several times I've ooo-ed and aah-ed at the site but haven't stopped to take a picture. Maybe one of these days I finally will.

I have heard of moon flowers. I'll have to take a pic of my balloon flowers for you. I'm sure they have some technical name!
