Sunday morning my husband and I went out to my parents house to drop off a Mum for my Dad's 72nd Birthday. We stayed for a while, chatted, then decided to go for a Sunday drive. Now Brent is not a 'Sunday Drive' kind of guy. He's more of a 'hurry up and let's get there' kind of guy, so I was thrilled he was able to just relax for a bit and enjoy the scenery.
One of the very first things we saw were these enormous Pumpkins in the back of 2 trucks, parked in a restaurant parking lot. Both were coming from the Rochester, NH fair and headed for a plant Nursery about 40-45 minutes away.
The first Pumpkin (though my husband thinks they are technically Squash), weighing in at 1,022 lbs. took First Place at the fair, winning a $500 cash prize.
Not very pretty is it.
The second Pumpkin weighed in at 1,015 lbs., and took 2nd place at the Fair, winning $250.
Now this is a pretty pumpkin! Just look at that little flower stem!
Check out the padding and pallets used to protect the tender underside of the smaller Pumpkin. The larger one isn't even strapped down! Imagine that rolling down the road at you! lol! Somehow I doubt it would roll very far.
I took quite a few pictures Sunday which I hope to be able to share with you over the next several days. There's nothing like Fall in New England and hopefully I can bring some of it to you!
