Strawberries

Let me preface by saying I am definitely NOT a food photographer! There's still so much for me to learn in this area but I want to try and challenge myself a bit, shooting more still life, which includes food. I think these images may be a bit over-processed but with time, and practice, maybe I'll get the hang of it.

Lately the girls and I have been eating strawberries like crazy! You know, the ones they sell in the grocery store. The genetically modified version that look like strawberries fresh out of the field but taste like strawberry flavored cardboard. Ha!

After I cut them up I sprinkle a good dose of sugar over top . . .

mix it all together
&
let them set out on the counter for 1/2 an hour or so to juice up.

The girls usually eat them straight up but I personally prefer my strawberries over vanilla ice cream

Hope you had a sweet Sunday! It's cold as the dickens here in New Hampshire!

Cold... very cold here too! I like my strawberries in a strawberry milkshake! YUMMERS. I don't buy them this time of the year, but rather wait until the fresh markets have them in the warmer months of the year. Isn't it sad that so much of our food is now genetically modified? Scary.

You may not be a food photographer, but you could be!

It is really cold here in MA as well, but the strawberries made me think about June and strawberry picking time. And it warmed me up. Thanks.

You take the most wonderful photos. How can you say you are not a food photographer! You are fantastic. They look more yummier than ever. I love strawberries, but if I didn't, I would now! Beautiful.

Hi Sharon! I think these are very delectable images – as evidenced by the fact I am now thinking of strawberries. :) I especially like the last one with the striped cloth and cones.

I hope you have been very well. I've been away without internet and just catching up.

Okay, they're all gorgeous, but I have to admit, it was the shot of the bowl of strawberries with the whipped cream on top that had me catch my breath. Yum!

We both had strawberries on the mind...I just made strawberry shortcake a few days ago...I couldn't resist, the strawberries at the supermarket looked so delicious! I do the same with mine, add a little sugar to them and let them sit, but I put mine over homemade biscuits. Your photos are beautiful, as always...love the little bit of evergreen and pinecones you added...nice touch!

These are lovely images, Sharon! I like your description of the berries ... genetically modified ... so true! I try to avoid them and wait until ours are in season. :)

Yum! Look great to me - can you add little more whipped cream? :-D Hoping to find some nice fruit at the store tomorrow.
Enjoy your weekend.
