Lovely beach shots. I did not venture out. We did not lose power either. It felt like a snow day, 24 hours inside with no place to go. Actually rather nice, sharp contrast to those who still have no electricity.

Looks like a wild day to be strolling along the beach! I am not so sure I would go into the water with the waves like that, not even my usual less than knee deep...

A friend of mine whose been a long time resident of the beach always went there during a hurricane. The waves are not that big here on LI sound so its the only time you see them.
We just got power last night....life is good again.

Glad to hear that you made it through Irene. We did, too. We even had a dry basement, which was a big surprise to me. It floods in much less violent storms. Wonderful pictures, by the way!

Our school's first day was to have been yesterday as well but it was cancelled. So today was day #1 and it was wonderful seeing them all coming back.

Hi Sharon, even in a storm the ocean and beach look beautiful...love seeing the boy and the dogs running around having fun! We never lost our power, either, and never got the strong wind gusts, just rain, rain and more rain! Glad we got thru it; unfortunately so many others didn't fare as well. My son starts school next week (I can't believe it's that time already either!) Anyway, I'm glad Irene is just a memory now!
